Hazardous Substances (COSHH) and MSDS

Hazardous substances can often be overlooked during the risk assessment process but can often cause the most painful and long term health issues for your employees. Hazardous substances include both chemical and biological agents and can vary in nature from dust to viruses, and can be used in, or created by, work processes. Introducing effective controls and implementing a management system can bring improved productivity thanks to lower levels of ill health and safer use of materials.

AssessNET’s comprehensive COSHH module enables you to assess the process in which a substance is used, rather than just the substance itself. Using AssessNET you can create an analysis of a process that involves multiple substances. The COSHH module also utilises a graphical method of entering data, which allows the user to cross-check the assessment against the classification symbols on the labels of the substances themselves.

Substances are listed separately from processes, and can be copied from other processes, enabling you to save data entry time inputting substances that are used regularly throughout your organisation.

Once the assessment has been entered, you can assign additional control measures to the process that can be delegated as actions for users of AssessNET to complete. These actions then tie in with AssessNET’s revolutionary Task Manager System, allowing you to view the progress through the task.
